Isaac joins the team

Isaac joined the Rationale team in early 2026, and after hitting the ground running in Timaru on his first day, has been so deep in the numbers ever since that he’s only just got around to writing his welcome story now…

After completing a Bachelor of International Business in his hometown of Brisbane, Isaac has worked as an analyst in education, finance, and central government departments in Australia and New Zealand, with a keen interest in bridging the worlds of analysis and advice to allow organisations and regulators to make well-founded decisions.

His work has helped target resourcing and improve response times for early intervention youth justice programmes in New Zealand, enhance complex fund management deposit systems, and provide oversight on operational and programme performance in the form of dashboards and presentations.

In amongst this, Isaac has spent the better part of the last four years living and working in Canada and Norway, working remotely as a freelancer while taking on jobs in ski resorts and most recently as a Northern Lights and snowshoeing guide in Tromsø, Norway. Skiing becomes the focus of his spare time during the winter, while summers have been dominated by bikepacking and hiking missions with his partner Mia and their mates.

After deciding it was time to head back to New Zealand at the start of this year, he couldn’t have dreamt of a more ideal work environment than what Rationale provides. With a team that not only enjoys getting stuck into important, challenging work, but who also live and breathe the incredible kiwi backcountry, he feels right at home here in Arrowtown!
